Almost every salon in Pakistan now advertises a “hydra facial”, and the term has been stretched to cover a lot of very different treatments. The distinction that actually matters is not the name on the menu but whether the treatment is a device-based procedure or a manual one.
A Hydra Facial is a device-based treatment that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and infuses serums in a controlled sequence. A regular facial is largely manual — steam, massage, masks and hand extraction. Hydra Facials are more consistent and better suited to congestion and dullness; regular facials are relaxing and gentler on the wallet. At ASN Aesthetics, Hydra Facials run from PKR 7,000 for the 7-step to PKR 18,000 for the 14-step.
The core difference
A Hydra Facial uses a machine with a handpiece that applies gentle suction while delivering solutions to the skin. Cleansing, exfoliation, extraction and serum infusion happen in a set sequence with settings the operator controls.
A conventional facial relies mostly on the therapist's hands: steam to soften the skin, manual extraction, a mask, and massage. The quality depends heavily on who is performing it.
Neither is inherently better. They are aimed at different things. The device gives repeatability; the manual facial gives relaxation and a gentler touch.
Which suits which skin
Congested, dull or oily skin usually responds better to the device-based route, because the extraction is more thorough and less dependent on manual pressure.
Sensitive or reactive skin sometimes does better with a gentle manual facial, or with a lower step count rather than the fullest protocol.
If you have active acne, rosacea or any inflammatory skin condition, the sensible first step is an assessment rather than booking a facial off a price list.
What the step counts mean
ASN Aesthetics offers 7-step, 10-step and 14-step Hydra Facials. The higher step counts add stages such as additional serums or complementary treatments rather than simply repeating the same pass.
More steps are not automatically better for your skin. The right count depends on what your skin needs, which is decided in consultation.
Alongside the Hydra range, the clinic also offers BBGlow, Carbon, Vampire and Oxygeno facials, which target different concerns again.
How often should you go?
For most skin types, every three to four weeks maintains the best result. That interval roughly follows the skin's natural turnover cycle.
Going more often is rarely more effective and can irritate the skin. Going much less often means starting from the same point each time.
